About Jack Lee

I’m Jack Lee, the human behind Fish Monkey Media — an actor, writer, filmmaker and lifelong experimenter in how brains, stories and technology can work together.

I trained as an actor in the UK, spent years on stage and in front of cameras, and somewhere along the way realised that the most interesting performance is the one we give inside our own heads: the story we tell ourselves about who we are and what’s possible next.

Fish Monkey Media is my studio for that exploration. It’s where I blend:

  • storytelling and film
  • neuroscience and psychology
  • improvisation and play
  • and now, collaboration with AI

to create books, videos and tools that help people — especially those of us with a bit of mileage on the clock — rethink what the “second half” of life can look like.

What I’m working on

Meeting Myself Halfway
A hybrid of memoir, science and practice about healing, ambidexterity, hemispheric integration and re-training a brain that’s been through trauma and burnout. It’s part story, part lab notebook, part invitation.

Halfway Human TV
A developing video series exploring ageing, creativity, technology, and what it means to stay curious and experimental later in life.

Apps & Experiments
Small, affordable digital tools — especially for older adults — designed to nudge the brain, challenge habits, and make mental training feel more like play than homework.

Why “Fish Monkey”?

“Fish Monkey” is my shorthand for creative evolution: something slightly absurd, slightly playful, halfway between worlds, not quite what you expect.

It’s a reminder not to take myself too seriously while working on things that matter deeply to me.

Where this is going

Over the coming months and years, this site will grow with:

  • new chapters and projects
  • behind-the-scenes notes from experiments
  • videos and audio
  • and, I hope, a growing community of people who are also finding unexpected ways to meet themselves halfway.

For now, this is home base. I’m glad you found your way here.
